Electrolytic manganese metal refers to the elemental metal obtained by the electrolysis of manganese salt in the electrolytic cell which is from the acid leaching of manganese ore. It looks like iron from the appearance. In the shape of irregular flakes, it is solid and brittle, shiny on one side and rough on the other side. Its color ranges from silvery white to brown and becomes silvery gray after it is processed into powder. It is easy to oxidize in the air, dissolve and generate hydrogen when exposed to dilute acid. Besides, it can also decompose water and release hydrogen when the temperature is slightly higher than room temperature.
